Advice for Ireland’s seafood businesses post Brexit
Ireland’s seafood development agency is urging businesses to familiarise themselves with changes to their operations and supply chains if trading into or through Great Britain as a consequence of Brexit.
The focus of BIM and other state agencies including the Sea-fisheries Protection Authority is to provide “support and guidance to the sector during this challenging time”, remarked chief executive, Jim O’Toole.
“By working together and taking action now, we can reduce the impact of Brexit as much as possible. Brexit has changed the way many seafood businesses operate and they need to be ready for this change.”
Seafood businesses that have not already completed BIM’s Brexit Readiness Assessment questionnaire, are being urged to do so.
The questionnaire sets out the steps required to be Brexit ready, and an assessment covers customs and revenue, registrations, supply chain and financial management. Guidance and financial support advice on importing/exporting products to Great Britain is also available on the BIM Brexit hub.
Results of the five-minute checklist will be emailed to the seafood businesses, setting out advice/guidance/supports tailored to specific responses.
