‘Gold Standard’ awarded to west coast seafood producer

Carr & Sons Seafood Ltd has achieved ‘Grade A’ accreditation with the British Retail Consortium which has awarded the company with independent confirmation of the rigorous standards adhered to throughout the entire supply chain at its Killala plant. Certification also recognises investment in implementing best practice procedures throughout the production process.

“Certification offers assurance to food retailers that Carr & Sons Seafood adhere to the highest quality standards within the food processing industry. I have no doubt that it will open doors for us with key players to secure new business and substantially increase sales,” she said.

Established in the 1940s and now employing 50 staff, Carr & Sons is a family-run business with a commitment to supporting rural communities and working responsibly with local fishermen around the Irish coast. 

The company’s processing plant has been upgraded to a modern production facility. Their premium ready-to-eat seafood products include smoked salmon and shellfish for the Irish and export markets in Sweden, Dubai, Italy, England, China and Germany.
