Improving water management practices at seafood plants

Ireland’s seafood development agency is launching a support programme aimed at improving water management practices and reducing water-related impacts at seafood plants.

The Water Stewardship Support Programme for seafood processors will be live streamed by BIM (25/8) for businesses interested to develop onsite practices to sustainably manage and use water.

The programme follows the ‘five steps to better water stewardship’ framework that offers an actionable approach across all sites.

Benefits include water reductions up to 30%, average annual savings of €20,000, leak detection and repair, recognition by Bord Bia’s ‘Origin Green’ programme and identification and mitigation of water-related risks.
