Launch of south-East coast local fishery action group

The latest BIM FLAG group to be launched covers Wicklow, Wexford and Waterford, under Axis Four of the European Fisheries Fund, which enables fisheries communities to create new and sustainable sources of income.

Speaking at the launch, BIM chairman Kieran Calnan said the agency was “fully committed” to the development and support of local coastal communities.

 The six businesses to secure funding are: Dunmore East Fisherman’s Co-op; Cheekpoint FLAG Group; Kilmore Quay Community Development; the Boatstrand Dunabrattin Fishermen and Community Group; Hook Tourism and Hook Heritage Limited. 

The South-East FLAG is one of six Irish FLAGs, each comprising a mix of representatives from State organisations and fishiing/marine groups.
