Licence suspended for mechanical harvesting of kelp in Bantry Bay
The High Court has given leave to judicially review a decision by Minister Damien English to grant a licence to mechanically extract over 1,860 acres of native wild kelp in Bantry Bay. The review was initiated by a member of the Bantry Bay – Protect Our Native Forests Campaign.
The High Court decision means no mechanical harvesting of kelp will take place for the foreseeable future.
