‘Significant interest’ in oil and gas exploration in Ireland’s offshore area

Forty-three applications had been lodged by the September 16 deadline for the 2015 Atlantic Margin Licensing Round.

“This is by far the largest number of applications received in any licensing round held in the Irish offshore,” remarked Joe McHugh, Minister of State for Natural Resources.

Evaluation will commence immediately with decisions on authorisations “in the coming months.”
