A life at sea learnt at the National Maritime College of Ireland
The National Maritime College of Ireland is a training and educational centre for the merchant marine and non-military needs of the Irish Naval Service.
It comprises specialist survival facilities, seamanship and shipwright workshops, firefighting/damage control units, jetty and lifeboat facilities, and engine room simulators.
The college uses specialist simulation equipment in navigation, and offers training in bridge operations, communications, engineering/machinery, liquid cargo handling/damage control and vessel traffic systems.
Degree and professional courses in nautical science, marine engineering/ electrotechnology are also available for school leavers and those with experience working on merchant ships or fishing vessels
The commercial division of the college runs maritime training courses in STCW, OPITO, GWO, simulation, along with port and bespoke courses.
