Citizen science to explore coastal biodiversity
The National Biodiversity Data Centre has launched a citizen science project to record coastal biodiversity around the Irish coast.
‘Explore your Shore’ aims to empower and support volunteer citizen scientists to survey and record intertidal and coastal marine spaces.
The collected data will help to improve knowledge of marine species distribution and explore their use as bio-indicators of water quality and climate change.
‘Explore your Shore’ is looking for volunteers to survey their local beach or rocky shore and to submit records of intertidal and coastal plan and animal species to the NBDC.
